Visa-free (365 days): Standard Georgia rules. Citizens of ~95 countries (EU, USA, CIS, etc.) can stay in the country for a year without a visa.
Buses: A small city bus network. Taxi: Bolt / Yandex / Maxim—extremely cheap. A ride across half the city can cost $1–1.5. On foot: The center is compact, main attractions are within walking distance.
By plane: David the Builder Kutaisi International Airport (KUT) is 20 km from the city. It is WizzAir's main hub: cheap direct flights to Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Rome, Milan, Warsaw, and dozens of other cities. By train: High-speed trains from Tbilisi and Batumi, as well as local trains. By bus: Georgian Bus and marshrutkas connect the airport and city with Tbilisi (3.5–4 hours) and Batumi (2 hours).
'Slow life' in its purest form. Everyone knows everyone here, and people are very open and hospitable. In the evenings the city quiets down, there is almost no nightlife, all socializing happens in restaurants and family gatherings.
Budget travelers (bootstrappers), those seeking a 'quiet haven' for focused work, and frequent travelers to Europe. Great for those who want to immerse themselves in a language environment (English is spoken slightly less than in Tbilisi).
Coworking spaces: The market is just emerging. There are small spaces (e.g., Digital Nomad Place Kutaisi), but more often people work from cozy cafes (Tea House Foe-Foe, Palaty, Our Cafe). Connectivity: Fiber optic (Magti/Silknet) is available in most areas, mobile 4G internet is fast. City: Fewer shopping centers than the capital, but everything you need is available. Excellent farmer markets (Green Bazaar) with the lowest prices in the country. Proximity to nature: Okatse and Martvili canyons, Prometheus Cave—all within 30–50 minutes.
Guidelines (2025): One of the cheapest cities to live in the region. — One person: ~500–900 USD per month (comfortably). — Family: ~1200–1800 USD. Rent: A nice renovated apartment can be rented for $250–400. A private house for $500–600. Food: Imeritian cuisine (khachapuri, pkhali) is considered the standard. Lunch at a good restaurant: $5–8.
