Uber: King of transport. Cheap and safe. Metro: Clean, safe, but covers only tourist areas. Car: Not recommended (parking is hell, GPS can take you into a favela).
GIG (Galeão): International airport. Flights from Europe (TAP, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa), Dubai (Emirates), and USA. SDU (Santos Dumont): Downtown airport for domestic flights. Takeoff with Sugarloaf in view is an attraction in itself.
Hedonism and relaxation. Everyone walks around in flip-flops (Havaianas) even at restaurants. Locals (cariocas) are very friendly, tactile, but unreliable (being an hour late is normal).
